That is the question that causes my endorsement, gladly, of the Sabeel Conference in Sunnyvale; I believe this compelling question also drives the hunger for justice expressed by the members of Sabeel. Many in these times are falling away from the church because it appears to lag behind them on many important issues of the Times. However, as I learned during the Civil Rights Movement in the American South, when the church is fully aroused to an injustice it can act with integrity and speed, equal to its vast resources of organization and territory. Sabeel is a special effort, a loving and pro-active one. Jesus, the Palestinian everybody knows, would have welcomed it."
